The article discusses the main recommendations of the British Thoracic Society for identifying and managing the long-term respiratory disease bronchiectasis to enable nurses to provide evidence-based care to patients. Topics covered include the condition's link to recurrent cough, sputum production, and respiratory tract infections, its diagnosis, its referral to specialist and secondary care, and its management via physiotherapy. Also noted is the need to educate patients on the disease. |
