Plagiarism is one of the most serious and frequently occurring scholastic dishonesty in academia and it has always been a problem in academic circles. Hence it is a very hot issue for debate and deliberations. This paper discusses the methods of content similarity checking and the consequences of plagiarism in academic writings in the light of UGC Regulation, 2018.
