Abstrakt: ISO 9001 is a certifiable international standard issued by ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation). Several benefits related to employees, companies, and the business environment are correlated to this standard. The Bayesian statistic can be used to fit regression models to data, presenting some advantages. The objective of this study is to verify, through Bayesian regression models, the relationship between the numbers of ISO 9001 certificates issued in Brazilian states and the macroeconomic factors. Furthermore, this study also aims to compare the relationships in the states with the relationships in the region of each state. The estimated model parameters indicate a significant relationship between some macroeconomic factors and the number of ISO 9001 certificates for the Brazilian state. Hence, considering the macroeconomic factors as indicators of specifics of the state economy, the local relationship between these aspects and the business environment, indicated in part by the number of ISO 9001 certificates, can be better understood. The most economically important states influence substantially the relationships of their regions. The main novelty of this paper is the analysis of the relationship between the Brazilian macroeconomic factors and the number of ISO 9001 certificates issued at state and regional levels.
