The paper presents a method and results of studying the melting process of silicates provided by the low-temperature plasma. It is shown that the propagation velocity of the melt front is determined by the initial temperature of the gaseous phase and thermal properties of the solid material, but it is low-dependent on the layer thickness of the latter.
