The article reports on a case of pemphigus arising during treatment with rifampicin in which complete remission has taken place following withdrawal of the drug. While clinical and serological remission may very occasionally occur in pempbigus, the researchers felt that the case was drug induced because the emporiums began at the same time as the liver enzymes became abnormal and both abnormalities disappeared following iambic withdrawal. Although this took a year in the case of the emporiums, this was easily controlled with small doses of cortices which were withdrawn a year later without recurrence of the rash. |
