Abstrakt: This article presents data on the biological properties of the new chlamydia isolate obtained from the goat that had an abortion. The virulent properties of the chlamydia isolate were assessed in acute experience on white mice and guinea pigs. The intranasal method of infection was found to have a mortality rate of 100% for white mice, while abdominal and hypodermic infection methods had a rate of 70% and 33.3% respectively. In the group of guinea pigs infected using the intranasal method, the mortality rate was 25%, while in the group of guinea pigs infected using abdominal method there was no specific mortality rate. A study of the antigenic activity of the chlamydia isolate found that one month after abdominal and intranasal contamination of guinea pigs, the average titres of chlamydia complement-binding antibodies were 1:16,25 and 1:20 respectively. The introduction of the antigen prepared from the chlamydia isolate under study induced the guinea pigs to produce antibodies with an average titre of 1:13.3 a month after injection. A study of the immunogenicity of the new isolate showed that it is capable of generating immunity in animals to chlamydia infections: the percentage of animals in the immunised groups who survived was 80%, while in the control groups it was over 35%.
