Increasing Power Performance for a Class Е Amplifier Based on Analysis of the Transistor Drain Current Oscillogram.

Abstrakt: A new approach is proposed to the problem of enhancing the performance of a class E power amplifier by means of a new method for determination of the shunt and series capacitances when designing an amplifier. The method is based on an analysis of the simulated oscillogram of a switching transistor drain current. It is shown that circuits designed using the proposed method provide an output power 1.1–1.6 times higher than the circuits designed by means of the traditional method based on analysis of the drain-source voltage waveform. Higher output power is provided at the same supply voltage, while the overall efficiency of the circuit and the level of losses on the switching transistor barely change. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
