This paper presents the corrosion study results of 90Cu-10Ni material under static tensile stress during 15 days of immersion and vapor exposure in 10% ammonia, 10% Na2S, and the mixture of both. The corrosion products were Cu(OH)2, Cu2S, and copper ammonium ion complex. General corrosion occurred in all specimens, and there were no surface cracks. SCC was not observed because specimens were still in the SCC's initial stage, where the slip dissolution mechanism occurs accompanied by pitting and intergranular corrosion. The intergranular corrosion occurs on the immersed specimens, and pitting corrosion on the vapor exposure. The corrosion rates of vapor exposed specimens in the ammonia and the ammonia and sulfide mixed environments were the same because the ammonia's vapor concentration is the same, and the sulfides are unstable in the vapor phase. The corrosion rate data showed that tensile stresses did not affect the corrosion of UNS C70600 after 15 days of testing. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
