Delegates weren't allowed to drive the trucks and buses, which were demonstrated by our own drivers on the public roads, but they could try their hand at the Land-Rover cross-country track at the Solihull factory. As one of the product specialists at our HQ in Berkeley Square I was responsible for lining up the cars, one of each model from Austin-Morris, MG, Triumph, Rover, Land-Rover, Jaguar and Daimler. When we were setting up the day before, I had the unique experience of driving a Leyland Atlantean double-decker bus around the circuit and putting the newly introduced Range Rover and Triumph Stag through their paces.
