Although the percentage of morbid obesity is low in Sri Lanka, obese Sri Lankans have increased risk for obesity-related metabolic derangement such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic syndrome [[2]]. A group of patients with obesity was followed up for one and half years after bariatric surgery from June 2011 to December 2019 at The Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Sri Lanka.
