Abstrakt: Method of C-Mn-Al-Ti-N railway steel quality evaluation based on fractal formalism has been developed. Fractal analysis of acicular ferrite structure by patented fractal method has been performed. The method is based on calculation of mean number of cell and point fractal sizes. Established the one-to-one correspondence between mechanical properties (YTS, UTS, ductility, impact toughness) and fractal sizes of acicular ferrite structure. Experimentally proved that increasing of tempering temperature of acicular ferrite structure from 450 °C to 650 °C lead to increasing of fractal size of acicular ferrite structure from 1.688 to 1.814. It can be explained by reducing of □-Fe crystal lattice distortion. Also during the tempering of acicular ferrite fine carbides precipitates on bainite laths and therefore the length of interface boundaries increases. Such transformations during the tempering process lead to increasing of impact toughness and ductility of acicular ferrite structure and decreasing of YTS and UTS. The evaluation method can be used for prediction of mechanical properties of steels with acicular ferrite structure depends on fractal size of the structure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
