A constitutive model of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) is developed for use in analyzing experiments with a velocity interferometer system for any reflector (VISAR) diagnostic that utilize PMMA as a window material. A thermodynamically consistent, fully three dimensional rate dependent elastic-plastic model is calibrated to data for (i) shock speed, (ii) release wave speed behind shock, (iii) shear stress behind shock, (iv) shear wave speed from static compression and (v) shock wave profiles. The model is intended for the regime of shock experiments; microsecond time scale and stress up to 10 GPa. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
