We have developed methods of investigation of gas‐discharge sources for spectral measurements, in particular, hollow‐cathode lamps (HCL) operating in a pulsed regime of excitation. The operating conditions of the HCL have been analyzed and the parameters of the pulsed regime have been determined. The complex‐values estimation of electric and radiating characteristics allow the pulsed regime of HCL to be optimized by the criterion of the maximum of the signal/noise ratio.
