In order to explore the significance of artistic conception aesthetics theory to modern clothing design, Heaven Gaia was taken as an example, the principles and specific application form of artistic conception creation in design over recent years were summarized in this paper. It was concluded that artistic conception of Chinese classical aesthetics are beauty of lively spirit and charm, beauty of nature and beauty of denotation. Modern clothing design should follow artistic conception creating principle of the unity of form and spirit, the application of concept of space and white-space art, and the combination of virtual and real, dynamic and static. In design practice, the designer should pay attention to the form of artistic conception expression in profile design, color application and pattern design. Reasonable artistic conception construction in modern clothing design is helpful to innovate form of design expression, enrich aesthetic connotation of design, and highlight traditional aesthetic implication and national culture in the design.
