In the normal perfusion scintigraphic results no clinically significant emboli are visualized. The perfusion scintigraphic result, which detects deviations from the normal distribution of radiopharmaceutical alone, however, is not a specific indicator of the presence of emboli. The ventilation/perfusion scintigraphy showing pathological anomalies directs with a high probability to pulmonary embolism and determines the future diagnostic and therapeutic scheme for every one patient.
