Since the mid-1980s, he has brought a different understanding of the medium of photography in Czech art and photography that used to be long and demonstratively ignored. As a "redemptive" strategy that unlocks the repressed potentialities of photography from conventionalization and ritualization, the uncanny may serve as a basis for the development of alternative modes of image production and consumption, certainly within domestic photography, although this is likely to remain a minority, if not an elite, preoccupation. Although Sigut's work is a comment to the illusiveness of photography, thematising photographic processes and analysing the medium of photography, his work has been primarily conceptual. Bakker's soft spot for poetry is also evident - in some texts, he mentions poets who have an intimate relationship with photography and their work, or he even directly compares poetry and photography (taking into account all the risks).
