Abstrakt: A single-mode microstructured POF (mPOF) pressed into a V-groove by a vertical force is suggested as a proof of concept for mass sensing. The working mechanism is based on the stress-induced birefringence in the mPOF that depends on several parameters such as the length of the pressed fibre section or its rotational orientation relative to the induced birefringent frame.
