The results of the combined investigation of the chemical composition of the Bosporan King Rhescuporis V’s billon staters from the 2011 Phanagorian hoard by XRF spectroscopy, neutron tomography and diffraction, and metallographic analysis are presented. The study of the crystal structure of the coin alloy indicates the absence of silver coating of staters minted from low-grade silver. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
