Despite a lot of debate on definitions and instrument quality, surprisingly little attention is being paid to the quality of the translation of the instruments in cross-cultural comparisons. But adequate translation is of paramount importance when applied to concepts such as culture, one of the most important variables in international business studies since the 1980s. The purpose of this study is to provide researchers with a comprehensive, theory-driven approach to proper cultural adjustment of culture-measuring instruments, which is then tested against other approaches on the sample from Russia.
