Abstrakt: Background : Cerebral aneurysm is a life threatening vascular condition which requires immediate surgical management. Knowledge of its risk factors and post-operative outcome variables can help in planning interventions. Aim: To study the risk factors and post-operative outcomes among patients having cerebral aneurysm. Methods:Thirty post-operative patients in a tertiary level institute were selected using purposive sampling technique. A pretested questionnaire was used to collect data. Information was gathered about their socio-demographic profile, personal and family history and potential risk factors. Clinical assessment included their post-operative outcomes like hemodynamics, need for artificial ventilation, feeding and urination etc. till discharge. The Extended Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOSE) was used to assess their outcome at discharge and at one month. Results: Family history and hypertension were the most common risk factors identified followed by smoking. Only few patients were discharged in partially dependent state in terms of feeding by Ryle's tube and all were voiding by self at discharge. All the patients had good recovery at discharge (GOSE 5 and above) which even improved after one month. Conclusion: is very important to acknowledge the risk factors related to cerebral aneurysms and assess the postoperative outcomes in orderto plan the nursing interventions accordingly.
