The article discusses the exclusion of transgender athletes from competition in Canada in light of the history of sport. Topics include the relation of cultural ideals of masculinity and femininity to sports, distinctions between biological sex and gender identity, and the notion of unfair advantages in sports. The work of historian Don Morrow is noted. |
