The article discusses assignment of the NR2E3 gene to mouse chromosome 9 and to human chromosome. The human and mouse NR2E3 gene (also known as PNR) encoding a retina-specific nuclear receptor was recently identified and found to be a ligand-dependent transcription factor. The human NR2E3 gene has been mapped to chromosome 15q24 by scientist E.A Bruford and others. The mouse Nr2e3 gene was traced using radiation hybrid mapping to chromosome 9, and human NR2E3 by FISH and screening of the Genebridge 4 radiation hybrid DNA panel within the Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS) by scientists E.A Bruford and others. |
