Abstrakt: The endurance approach has been used for fatigue design and assessment since many decades. In recent years, the use of infrared (IR) technology to assess fatigue damage has been gaining more interest. The infrared thermographic method reported in literature allows to define an entire S-N curve with a limited number of specimens. Inspired by that approach, a methodology based on the direct current potential drop (DCPD) technique is developed. It allows to determine an S-N curve in a quick manner and might potentially be used in application areas where IR is not feasible. The developed DCPD methodology and the established IR methodology have been applied to two high strength offshore steels. The so-obtained S-N curves show a very good correlation.
