The article presents views of art critic Taylor Renee Aldridge on contemporary art's appropriation of race. It mentions that Aldridge criticized artist Sanford Biggers' sculptures such as "Lotus" and "Laocoön" stating that these depicts slaves and slave ships approved with blackness. She also discusses #BlackLivesMatter movement in which hash tag depicts branding strategy as well as exploitation and pain suffered by black people. |
