The article offers information on the global ocean phytoplankton. Topics discussed include the role of marine phytoplankton in fixing the atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) which fuels the global ocean ecosystems and biogeochemical cycles, the proportion of the phytoplankton abundance to the maximum sunlight energy being absorbed for photosynthesis, and the observance of the phytoplankton Chla in cooler ocean water of the western North Pacific. |
