The article reports the appeal made by the Indian Pharmaceutical Association as of late November 2015 to medicine shops in India not to sell antibiotics without a prescription. Also cited are a study by "Metro" journal showing that it is very easy to buy antibiotics over the counter, the claim by pulmonologist Asok Sengupta that antibiotic abuse is pervasive worldwide, and the comment by surgical gastroenterologist Sanjay De Bakshi on the issue. |
