Abstrakt: Identifies factors that regulate cellular levels of nicotine adenine dinucleotide (NAD)[sup +]. Finding that the homologue of Sir2p, Hst1p is an NAD[sup +]-dependent deacetylase with relatively low affinity for NAD[sup +] that functions as a cellular NAD [sup +] sensor to repress the NAD[sup +] biosynthesis program when NAD[sup +] levels are adequate in Saccharomyces cerevisaie.
