Abstrakt: There has been asignificant increase in the use of simulation in the teaching of ODPs, mainly as aresult of its popularity in medicine. To assess whether students feel simulation is auseful teaching tool that offers the 'value-added' element that educators believe it does, aqualitative piece of research was conducted using aquestionnaire on one cohort of 35 ODP students. Students indicated asignificant improvement in both practical skills and knowledge. Over 80% enjoyed the session and felt that their confidence in dealing with patient airways had increased. The research suggests that the students believe their learning is improved by simulation, though due to the limits of this enquiry and with no supporting examination results, more research is required. It is vital that simulation is used effectively to ensure that learning for future students continues to improve. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
