The author focuses on child and adolescent suicides, while referring to the tragic story of death of Gwen's son. She states that death by suicide is the third leading cause of death among persons aged 15-24 while several reasons comprising the primary causes of death include sexual abuse, influence of alcohol or drugs and receiving a failing grade. She discusses the results of The Youth Risk Behavior Surveillence Survey and also highlights the role of psychiatric nurses in suicide prevention. |
