A literary analysis of the play "The Normal Heart" by Larry Kramer is presented. Focusing on the play's staging of a same-sex wedding in 1980s New York City, the author discusses the influence of law in creating a sense of self. The criticism also discusses how Kramer explores gay identity and goes on to compare the play's reflection of gay rights with the 2011 legalization of same-sex marriage in New York. |
