The patterns in establishment of elemental composition in plants depending on specific landscape and geochemical features, different types of climate, and plant systematic affiliation are analyzed with the focus on hyperaccumulator plants, forming specialized endemic floras in biogeochemical provinces with excess trace element concentrations. The plant metal tolerance is an integrated problem. Within the considered research field, the metal-tolerant plants present a scientific interest, being the centers for emergence of new varieties (evolutionary aspect). Different responses (floristic, physiognomic, etc.) observed in plants growing in deposits are indicators for searching for ores. Hyperaccumulators are promising in phytoremediation of polluted soils. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
