The urologic management of a neonate with a disorder of the urinary tract can present with a variety of problems. The increased use of antenatal ultrasounds has greatly changed the morbidity and mortality for many children with urinary tract abnormalities. This technology has enabled practitioners to be aware much earlier of these potential problems. Hydronephrosis is the most common presenting symptom for many of these infants. Some of the disorders to be discussed include posterior urethral valves, megaureter, ureteropelvic junction obstruction, and undescended testes. |
