The action of lymphokines, soluble mediators of cell-mediated immunity was studied on isolated lungs of guinea-pigs. Antigen-specific antigens were shown to have bronchospastic activity as regards sensitized and nonsensitized lungs. The bronchospastic effect is not mediated by histamine or by other chemical bronchoconstrictors, and is not linked with activity of leukocyte migration inhibition factor. |
