Abstrakt: Gandhamardan has a rich heritage of floristic diversity with undocumented medicinal plants, called Anukta Dravya having immense pharmacological values. Among them, Pittosporum napaulense (DC.) Rehder & E. H. Wilson is an important medicinal plant with widespread pharmacological importance. The antioxidant potential, antibacterial and antibiofilm activities of P. napaulense (DC.) were evaluated. The ethanolic extract showed the highest share of phenolic and flavonoid contents responsible for DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activity with an IC50 of 5.58 and 5.28 µg/ml, respectively. In addition, the extracts also showed antibacterial and antibiofilm properties against multidrug-resistant bacterial strains, Staphylococcus aureus and Shigella sp. The biological activities of P. napaulense (DC.) bark could be attributed to the presence of phytoconstituents such as Malabaricone C, Borapetoside B, Kanzonol R. as evident from UPLC-Q-TOF-MS analysis. Based on the bioactivities; this plant could be explored for the development of potential therapeutic drug candidates against severe bacterial diseases.
