Abstrakt: | Novel rhein-piperazine-furanone hybrids, 5, were designed and synthesized efficiently from rhein. Cytotoxicity of all hybrids 5a-j against A549 human lung cancer cells was superior to the parent rhein and the reference cytarabine (CAR).
