Abstrakt: | Purpose of Review: The surgical techniques of pancreas transplantation have been evolving and significantly improved over time. This article discusses different current techniques and their modifications. Recent Finding: At this time, the most commonly used technique is systemic venous drainage (for venous outflow) and enteric drainage (for management of exocrine pancreatic secretions). However, new modifications of established techniques such as gastric or duodenal exocrine drainage and venous drainage to the inferior vena cava continue to be introduced. Summary: This article provides a state-of the-art review of the most prevalent up-to-date surgical techniques as well as a synopsis of their specific risks and benefits. The article also provides the most current registry data regarding utilization of different surgical techniques in the United State and worldwide. |
