[Effect of vitamin D correction on insulin resistance in patients with coronary heart disease and metabolic syndrome].

Abstrakt: The aim of the article was to study vitamin D level, carbohydrate metabolism and insulin resistance in 135 patients with ischemic heart disease, stable angina FC II-III. The investigation detected hypovitaminosis D among 91.9 % of patients. All patients have been receiving 2000 IU of cholecalciferol per day for 6 months orally in addition to basic therapy. It was found that the correction of hypovitaminosis D positively affects on patients with coronary artery diseases. It is concluded that individuals with co-morbid course of coronary heart disease and metabolic syndrome require treatment of hypovitaminosis D for an extended period of time.
