Abstrakt: Diabetes mellitus concurrent with chronic opisthorchiasis shows a more severe and labile course and aptness to early complications. There are significant changes in the functional status of the biliary system, which cause failing biligenesis and a high lithogenicity of bile: severe hypotony of the gallbladder with its decreased concentration and evacuatory capacities, hypomotor dyskinesia of the biliary tract, dysfunction of the sphincter apparatus. Successful dehelminthization with bilthricide or poputril (dry aspen bark extract) significantly improves the clinical cause of diabetes, induces positive changes in biligenesis particularly in less than 5-year history of diabetes.
