THE Tories vowed to take their battle for a referendum on the EU treaty to the House of Lords yesterday. William Hague hopes a coalition of peers will make the Government back down on the Lisbon Treaty. The Shadow Foreign Secretary also called on Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg to honour his party's manifesto pledge by backing calls for a vote.
