AS a cyclist, I'm already in favour of public floggings for drivers who beep at us to get out of their way, and mandatory life sentences for people who steal bike-lights. But never mind criminal justice, I reckon Hell won't be hot enough for the motorist who deliberately knocked a cyclist off his bike in Dundalk on Sunday, and filmed it on his dashcam, left, while chortling at the poor man's trauma. Cyclist Mark Rogan broke his collarbone in the deliberate attack and gardaí are appealing for help in identifying the culprit. Happily, he was stupid enough to give away enough clues - not least his rather distinctive commentary - and there should be plenty of CCTV on that route. The man on the bike, Mr Rogan, is a hard-working restaurant employee. What's the betting it turns out the thug in the new-ish VW has never worked a day in his life? [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER] |
