Abstrakt: The article discusses the Garden for the Environment (GFE), a public teaching garden in San Francisco that offers an annual Gardening and Composting Training Program called Get Up!. The program aims to educate and empower individuals to become active participants in the gardening, social justice, and climate change movements. The diverse group of students in the program learn various urban gardening skills and also explore the larger picture of the climate crisis. GFE provides a space for people to connect with the land and community, fostering a sense of responsibility for the Earth. The program includes lectures, hands-on gardening practices, field trips, and a service project. Graduates of the program become change makers in their own communities, spreading the seeds of change throughout San Francisco and beyond. GFE also offers volunteer opportunities, field trips for schools, and other educational programs focused on water conservation and regenerative gardening practices. [Extracted from the article]
