Infekcije mokraćnoga sustava se ubrajaju među najčešće infekcije kod ljudi, a bakterija Escherichia coli je njihov glavni uzročnik. Pretjerana i nekontrolirana uporaba kinolona dovodi do sve veće otpornosti bakterija na tu skupinu antibiotika.
