New hybrid systems involving metallic nanoparticles and organic molecules are a prime matter of interest because of their new properties coming from the synergy between the hybrid building blocks. Many fields can take advantage of them: imaging, elec

Surface plasmon resonance microscopy (SPRM) is a label-free technique that is capable of real-time imaging of biological and chemical activities at metal-dielectric interfaces. Recently, such a technique has been combined with digital holography (SPR

Biosensors are monitoring tools that provide a quantification of chemical or biological species in a sample. Surface plasmon biosensors use an evanescent electromagnetic wave to detect molecular interactions or biological objects on a metallic film.

This experimental thesis focuses on the manipulation and control of hybrid plasmon/exciton states. These states, called polaritons, build on the strong light/matter interaction. The strong coupling regime induces collective effects and coherence, by

In this work we present the results on the selective growth of Cu2O and metallic Cu by atomic layer deposition (ALD) on ZnO, Al-doped ZnO (AZO) and α-Al2O3 substrates. It was possible to tune the deposited material (Cu or Cu2O) by controlling the de

Thermal radiation is generally assumed to be both spatially and temporally incoherent. In this paper, we challenge this idea. It is possible to design incandescent sources that are directional and spectrally selective by taking advantage of surface w
