The alkylation of phenol with methanol was studied using a Bronsted-type acid catalyst (a H-mordenite) and basic/dehydrogenating catalysts (MgO, Fe2O3 and Mg/Fe/O), with the aim of investigating the reaction mechanism. The main difference between the

Magnesium/aluminium mixed oxides were synthesised following two procedures, via: (i) coprecipitation (CP) and (ii) sol–gel (SG). A crystalline precursor with hydrotalcite-like structure developed in both cases only for Mg/Al ratios between 2 and 4.

The study of cyclohexanone oxime (CEOX) adsorption and reaction into e-caprolactam (CPL) by FT-IR spectroscopy was performed with Silicalite-1 (S-1) as a catalyst. Information of both active sites and reaction mechanism of the Beckmann rearrangement

The reactivity of Mg/Me-mixed oxides (Me = Fe, Cr, Al) in m -cresol gas-phase methylation with methanol was studied, with the aim of finding relationships between catalytic performance and surface/bulk features. All systems exhibit similar surface pr

Mg/Al mixed oxides, obtained by decomposition of hydrotalcite-like precursors, represent interesting heterogeneous catalytic systems for basic-catalyzed reactions, as an alternative to environmentally unfriendly homogeneous catalysts. The reactivity

Amorphous mesoporous silica–aluminas with different textural properties are prepared by the sol–gel procedure and compared in the “in situ” reaction of methanol by infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. Depending on the gelling agent, silica–alumin

The deuterated acid form of zeolite ERS-7 (Si/Al = 8.4) has been prepared by repeated cycles of D2O exposure and calcination. 27Al NMR data show that the relative proportions of tetrahedral and octahedral Al in the resulting material are 70 and 30%,
