We report a sensing scheme using the fiber Bragg grating (FBG) inscribed erbium-doped fiber (EDF), which is capable of piecewise temperature sensing with two directions of characteristic parameters and high linearity.

The spectral properties of Bi-doped phosphosilicate fiber has been investigated at liquid nitrogen temperature (LNT). It is observed that the NIR luminescence of phosphor-related bismuth active center (BAC-P) has been enhanced greatly at LNT.
