We describe the total syntheses of $(\pm)$-phyllanthocin (1), the aglycon of the potent antineoplastic agent phyllanthoside (2a), and of $(\pm)$-chlorovulone II (3), a halogenated marine prostanoid with high antiproliferative and cytotoxic activity.*
