Istnieje wiele innowacyjnych nawierzchni autostrad. Jedną z nich jest nawierzchnia z asfaltu porowatego. Celem budowy tego typu nawierzchni jest pochłanianie w czasie eksploatacji wody opadowej oraz zmniejszenie hałaśliwości warstwy ścieralnej.
