Collective modes of doped two-dimensional crystalline materials, namely graphene, MoS 2 and phosphorene, both monolayer and bilayer structures, are explored using the density functional theory simulations together with the random phase approximation.

Excitation of hybrid modes constituted by different material-supported polaritons is a common way to enhance the near-field radiative energy transport, which has fascinating promise in applications of thermal photonics. Here, we investigate near-fiel

We investigate the controversial case of charge-density-wave (CDW) order in single layer 1T-TiSe$_2$ by employing the density functional perturbation theory with on-site Hubbard interactions. The results emphasize the crucial role of electron correla

Hyperbolic materials are receiving significant attention due to their ability to support electromagnetic fields with arbitrarily high momenta and, hence, to achieve very strong light confinement. Here, based on first-principles calculations and many-

Natural hyperbolic two-dimensional systems are a fascinating class of materials that could open alternative pathways to the manipulation of plasmon propagation and light-matter interactions. Here, we present a comprehensive study of the optical respo

We explore the collective electronic excitations of bilayer molybdenum disulfide (MoS$_2$) using the density functional theory together with the random phase approximation. The many-body dielectric function and electron energy-loss spectra are calcul
