In this work, the optical spectra emitted from the magnesia-alumina spinel (MgOAl2O3) surfaces induced by low energy, highly charged Xeq+ (6 ≤ q ≤ 20) ions were measured. In the collisions, the excitation process of sputtered atoms is discussed.
