Layered K 1-2 x M x TiNbO 5 (M = Mn, Ni) was prepared by ion-exchange of KTiNbO 5 obtained by the solid-state method with Mn 2+ and Ni 2+ . The crystal structure and optical property of the as-prepared K 1-2 x M x TiNbO 5 were studied using powder X-
